Come on - get off!

Today was going to be a simple one - catch the 0920 bus at Bunessan, get off at Craignure, meet a Blipper off the ferry from Oban, get on the 1240 ferry and go back to Oban.

But . .  as we arrived in Craignure at 1030 another bus driver came up to speak to our driver, who then announced 'No ferries today - the pier here has been condemned'! Uh? I asked when the next bus went back to Bunessan would be. 1650, he replied - six and a half hours to wait in Craignure, which has very little going for it. I retired to the pub/cafe, which fortunately was open.

Over the next couple of hours we had several messages:
1. No ferries today.
2. Pier repaired, ferry sometime soon, being discussed.
3. No ferries today, but bus will take us over the Fishnish and Corran ferries and through Glencoe (a very scenic route) to arrive in Oban for folk to catch the 1611 train to Glasgow.
4. Don't get on the bus as the 12.40 ferry will be leaving as per usual.

It did and we arrived back in Oban only ten minutes late. Didn't get to meet my fellow Blipper, who travelled the Corran/Fishnish route to Mull - maybe on the way back!

Just another average day on the west coast ferries!
