Scoots, Shoots & Leaves

Well, we've had our Portland snow this morning. This is how it typically happens: it starts snowing in the morning, usually in time to really mess up the commute. Then just as it starts to get really pretty, it starts raining and everything turns to slush, our hopes of a winter wonderland dashed once again.

I haven't checked the news, but what also typically happens is that the city goes into Panic Mode, the schools shut down, the news stations go into hyperactive 24/7 snow reporting, usually with a catchy title like "Winter Storm Alert" (last year most of us referred to it as Snowpocalypse).

But our little Josephine squirrel knows just what to do when it snows -- eat as much bird food as she can get her paws on and then take cover under her own tail.

Have a look at her in LARGE.
