London 2012 - Blip 6 - Athletics

After an unexpected evening at the athletics on the 7th (the unexpected ticket from a friend was much appreciated) I was back again a couple of days later.

Excitement was tinged by disappointment. Excitement because Oscar Pistorius was due to make history by being the first Paralympian to run in the Olympics in the 4 x 400m relay qualifying. in the event, of course, his team mate was flattened by a Kenyan runner so all we got to see was Oscar holding his head in his hands.

Disappointment because the main event of the day, the Men's Decathlon, had lost it's TeamGB interest (Daniel Awde) due to injury.

But, it was still a fantastic day, baking in the glorious sunshine, with a seat that was almost trackside, enjoying the spectacles of the athletics - as well as the 80,000 strong crown performing "YMCA" at lunchtime.

Certainly beat being at work!
