A sacred tree of matchmaking

We also visited Futarasan Shrine adjacent to Toshogu Shrine. At the entrance to the shrine I found this sign indicating what they called 'a sacred tree of matchmaking.' The tree seemed to be said to have the power of matchmaking and some people would have been there to have their prayer answered.

It seems that the god of marriage as such abound in the country. I just found it interesting that there was also an English translation in the sign.
