A Day of Boats

Today we had a trip to the Isle of Wight CyclopsJnr's Great Aunt and Uncle (and Cyclops).

We went over as foot passengers and enjoyed exploring the ferry.  CyclopsJnr waved to the captain on the bridge just as we got going, so is convinced he started the ferry.

We had a walk around the harbour and beach in the sunshine, threw lots of stones in the water, and generally enjoyed messing around.  On the way we saw the Harbour Taxi pootling about, and CyclopsJnr was fascinated by the idea of a boat being a taxi.  His uncle decided that he must experience this for himself, so on the way back we took a "shortcut" across the harbour on the taxi!  Great fun.  We were also the first fare paying passengers for a new taxi skipper, so he was almost as excited to take us as CyclopsJnr was to ride with him!

We had a lovely relaxing pub lunch in a beer garden, then headed back on the ferry for a few games of frisbee (a present from our hosts yesterday) before dinner.

During the day CyclopsJnr asked several times if "I can stay up with the grownups if I am good" and was told that he could if he was no trouble as we was on his holidays.  After dinner he insisted on going straight to bed as he was tired (although he did enjoy a Paddington story from his Great Uncle first).  Exactly the same happened yesterday - he throws himself at the day so hard he wears himself out!
