No one about when I left tonight, as usual heading under the arch and portcullis of the Bloody Tower. The horizontal line of the Victorian re-medievalising of the Tower is really obvious on the Bloody, and on the round Wakefield Tower beside it. Countless Tower prisoners would have passed under there on their way to whichever tower they would be held in. Some would have arrived via Traitors’ Gate, just beyond the arch in this photo.
