I Told You It Was

Yesterday I declared that I had seen a comma butterfly in flight (in Fife).

Today, I revisited the location to collect the proof - and here it is.
There were apparently two of them about. I photographed this on the way to the bird hide, approaching from the west. In the bird hide, talking to another occupant, it transpired that he had seen one as well on his approach from the east.

Comma butterflies were not recorded in Fife for over 100 years. They then started to be seen again in the early 2000s. Since then, though still scarce, they have become more established and can usually be found each year in a few favoured locations.
