Wound up in Wexford

Paving

This is what W has spent the last few days working on.  Levelling the walkways between the raised beds, laying weed suppressant fabric and sand, before accurately siting the pavers, checking with a spirit level that they are totally level.

Unfortunately, paving was not included in the original design thoughts, so when siting the three raised beds nearest the hedge, he didn't quite leave enough room between them for these pavers.  Now each one will need a small amount nibbled off one edge.  Our apologies to the neighbours - we're going to be making a lot of noise with an angle grinder on Saturday.

Meanwhile, I did yet more weeding. It's not really visible on this photo, but between the raised beds and the hedge is a pile of soil.  It was a much larger pile, until W sifted much of it, to use for the raised beds; but some remains there and was growing a good crop of weeds.  There is also a pile of stones and glass bits that he sifted out of the soil, which was also growing weeds.

Now the weeds are cleared, the rest of the soil needs sifting, so that we can use it to level the lawn, the resultant discarded glass can be binned, and the stones moved to a more discreet corner somewhere.  So there's still quite a lot of work to do on this area of the garden.  We may even get around to planting something in the beds.
