General Wade

We had a walk on the Monadliath hills today ; on a cold but bright day. Our starting point was Garva Bridge, built by General Wade in the 1790s in the aftermath of the Jacobite Revolution. The bridge links Fort Augustus on Loch Ness to Dalwhinnnie and the Ruthven barracks via the Corrieayrack Pass. The road and bridge was built by the English General Wade in an effort to control the Highlands following the failed Jacobite Revolution.
