Apple Pie & Coteaux du Layon Saint-Auben

M bought this in about 2001 - the supermarket had put the wrong price on it so he got it for £2.  He thought he'd keep it for R's 21st and somehow we have managed not to drink it until this weekend (just a week after her 21st).  We wondered if it would have gone off but it hadn't and it was a fitting end to a fabulous dinner.  M baked a large trout that we'd been given some months back, served with lots of interesting veg and perfect roast potatoes.  I don't cook much but occasionally do a cake or pudding, and so made a Danish Apple Cake.  It was our last evening before R and H headed off today (Monday).  Been such a wonderful weekend.

Some travel drama again today with ferries on amber alert.  But they got an earlier ferry just fine, the ferries are all off now though, apart from the Fishnish/Lochaline one.  Noticed a lot of day trippers earlier, wonder how many didn't get back to Oban!

A back blip.
