Lacewing

Lacewings are possibly my favourite insects - its something to do with their impossibly delicate translucent wings - and I always get excited when I see one. This is my first lacewing of the year. Its a tiny creature - perhaps a centimetre long. I think its a Common Green Lacewing (Chrysoperla carnea) with its magical copper coloured eyes. This one is sheltering in my bay tree, hopefully eating lots of aphids.
