Exploring in the hills

We followed the path up hill just outside our ryokan and soon found snow. You could never tell if it would take your weight or you foot would break through the surface and drop down a foot or two (sometimes it would take your weight for 30 seconds and then drop you down just for laughs). Found the most beautiful mountain stream where we crossed and admired the zen qualities before heading back and catching the bus to Takayama.
