I’m reading Ali Smith’s ‘Winter.’

It’s glorious, sad, heart rendering, funny, depressing and thought provoking.

One line of thought would say it makes you realise why Mills&Boon was so successful!

The reality of life is not just what is hitting your nose right now. It’s whatever is hitting the nose of our fellow man. It’s interesting that the book includes a quote from Theresa May at the beginning of it. She is quoted as ‘... but if you believe you’re a citizen of the world, you’re a citizen of nowhere. You don’t understand what the very word ‘citizenship’ means... I’m putting you on warning. This can’t go on anymore

Words. They can be, as we know, meaningless. I hope she, and our. Government, can grasp these words. Your house needs you. Your street is next. On it goes. Your very own fingerprint of accountability on the world you inhabit.
