Bug Explosion!

Oh, it's time to take my macro lens out of hibernation; what a wonderful day for bugs!

I found my first ashy mining bees, a bush full of amorous gorse shieldbugs, two brimstone butterflies (and a few I've already seen) and this green hairstreak.  This guy sounds like it’s on the very early side of when they're likely to emerge - hopefully a good year for the flutterbys.

On the way home, a wagtail stood and wagged on a fence and I looked up to spot a grey not a pied - unusual and a treat. And the finale, a woodpecker giving a tree trunk some welly above my head.

A bike ride without a camera (I'd plenty to choose from today) was a lighter-weight joy, particularly in shorts and short-sleeves.

One fine day!
