Pal gets his OBE

Today was such a special day at Leeds Castle. Mum and I were truly honoured to attend a PDSA event for medical detection dog Pal to be awarded an Order of Merit for his lifelong dedication to Claire Pearson.

The Order of Merit is the dog equivalent to an OBE. In the seven years Pal has been partnered with Claire (thanks to the Medical Detection Dogs Charity) he has alerted her to her blood sugars over 12,000 times. He is a lifesaver and a life changer giving Claire and her family independence, confidence and security.

Today was the sixth month anniversary since Claire’s double transplant and what a way to celebrate. I was truly touched to be invited today and catch up with Claire, her wonderful friends (some of which are fellow MDD volunteers) and her lovely family.

Sunshine, smiles, tears, laughter, memories shared and more memories made. Today is a day I will never forget.
