A Little Bit of TLC

I reckon that with a bit of TLC they could get her flying again . . .

Today we made a very worth while visit to the IWM Museum, Duxford.  The purpose of the ‘spur of the moment’ visit was a recky to see if it was going to be practical for us to see ‘Daks Over Duxford’ in June.

Well the visit was well over due and we had a great time, but sadly, taking into account the horrendous journey involving the A14, we have decided that we won’t be seeing the Daks.

Took loads of shots, most of them good, even though the EOS R developed a mind of it’s own half way around.  In fact I think it was telling me that ‘these settings’ are better than you had.  I shall sit down in a darkened room and read the manual (AGAIN!) later.

The blip is of a Rolls Royce Merlin engine that had seen better days.  I think it came out of a Hurricane, but even the information plaque had fallen off . . .

The ‘American War Museum’ had a lot of personal interest for both of us.  Not only could we see a B52 close up, but also from the top. All that Mrs W had seen was the underside as they flew over our house in Oxfordshire as they took off from RAF Upper Heyford (where I was working for the PSA).  On top of that they actually had a F111 from Upper Heyford on display.

The extras are of ‘Miss Pick Up’ getting a tow, and Mrs W ducking under the wing.  ‘Miss Pick Up’ is owned by the Catalina Society and is based at Duxford.

ps - I have made tthis a late entry for ds137
