Back to reality, with an early start for the second breeding bird transect of the year at Thorpe Wood NR, where both blackcaps and chiffchaffs were present in good numbers, as well as the usual range of resident woodland birds. 

After this interlude, much of the rest of the day was spent catching up on washing, emails and all the other chores that follow a spell away from home.
