The wake after the fire at Notre Dame

We had heard of the fire the evening before, heard the many police cars and fire engines before we saw them speeding “some place “ - Notre Dame as we learned afterwards. On Tuesday we walked in line with all the other people- Parisians and tourists to look at the disaster. It was as if you paid a last good bye to an old friend. Everything was quiet.
