The Tasman Sea pounds the West Coast

We stopped and went out onto the beach a few times today. The waves rushing in from the Tasman Sea are really impressive - the smell of the sea on opening the car door is overwhelming. This shot was taken on a beach just north of Pancake Rocks. I took a lot of shots of the sea, but this was the best, as the huge driftwood trunk makes the photo more interesting. It also shows the power of the sea - this is a full size tree, and it's been flung onto the beach like a matchstick.
