The Seaside

I do like to be beside the seaside... but we obviously went to the wrong place this morning.

We are in Preston for the weekend and decided to miss all the traffic on the M6 by leaving early ad going somewhere north of Manchester en route.  Southport seemed to be an appropriate place and I was looking forward to sitting close to the sea whilst eating breakfast and then maybe doing some sophisticated retail therapy.  Not a good choice.  Apparently Southport is not the place to go to if you want to see the sea even though it has a pier and a beach.  It's also not a place for sophisticated shopping when you are feeling disillusioned and can't find an easy parking place...  We did, however, find a very good bacon sandwich on the road out of Southport.  This image is of the "beach" and the pier taken from the busy main road which runs along the coast.

We are now comfortably ensconced with Ben, Rachel and Sam and are looking forward to a relaxing weekend with them.  I hope you all have a good Easter weekend too.
