Statistics since 1847

I took my bicycle in use today after winter months and had a photo trip at the lakes. One stop was this official metering station of Lake Saimaa, which has been monitored from spring to fall on daily basis at  8 am since 1847. Recorded data includes water temperature and height of water level. As per data, officials define if there is need control the water height of Lake Saimaa by extending the flow of Vuoksi river by water power plant locating in Imatra. Reason for that is to avoid flooding issues at Lake Saimaa. Vuoksi river ends to Lake Ladoga in Russia.

This spring water height is very low, but it will rise up a bit after all snow has melt away. Now it seems that there is no risk of flood. Of course it depends of amount of rains on coming summer.
