Bartlow Hills

We met up with a group of friends for Easter-related fun today. Kids scrambled to find all the chocolate eggs hidden in the grass and trees. Kids and adults (see extra with me in the centre) took turns at egg racing (or bashing, as the case may be), and then the traditional egg throwing from one hilltop to the next. Finally had brilliant weather on Good Friday!

The Bartlow Hills, just a couple of miles from Linton, are fabulous scheduled monuments. Three (and a bit) left standing of what were a group of seven Roman burial mounds from about the 2nd century A D. This mound is the tallest burial mound north of the Alps, apparently (13 m).
