Nanchang 2012

LOOK UP...WAAAAYYYYY UP....

Sometime we go into places and forget to look up...go into any temple, pagoda, home or church and their is always a story told in the paintings or carvings...
I do love old architecture...especially in and around Nanchang and China.
The carvings are full of history...family...town...county...here it is very elaborate, due to family money...like any country the more money, the more status, the bigger the home...and so on...this family was very affluent in status and could afford the wonderful carvings, all meaning something such as strength, wealth, food, health for the family etc.
One thing I will mention, that many carvings and stone sculptures were hacked off and defaced during the Cultural Revolution these, I am sad to say, have never been replaced, but, they too, are now a part of history.
