Where the Light Gets In

Mixing is life!

wonderful concert
original instruments
english and breton

Originally, we were most interested in seeing Rodolphe Burger (on the right of the main photo, and in the last extra) again, but what made the occasion so special was that this time he would give a concert with Breton singer Erik Marchand (he specialises in working with men called Erik: I saw him in Brest in November, with trumpet player Erik Truffaz!), oud player Mehdi Haddab, and part of the Meteor band (Julien Perraudeau on the bass guitar, Arnaud Dieterlen on the drums). There was a surprise: on the far left of the main photo you can see a young woman playing a strange instrument. I don't know if you'll recognise the instrument, even in the extra. I only learnt afterwards that it is a gadulka, a traditional Bulgarian instrument. The woman is Pauline Willerval.

You can hear a bit of what we did here. Not from this concert, but a song from the album they were playing from, Before Bach.

Extras: Marchand, Haddab, Burger, Willerval
