St George's day

Apart from England, St George seems to be many places Patron Saint, including Catalonia where I am from. Today is one of the days in the year I miss my land the most.  On St Georges catalans celebrate our version of Valentines day. The tradition is that girls are gifted roses on this day while the boys receive a book (Shakespeare and Cervantes celebrate birthdays this day). Needless to say I have always insisted on getting the book instead of the rose. 
Barcelona today is full of street stalls selling both books and roses and there is always a festive feel on the streets
On today's blip I wanted to celebrate books and particularly women writers.
