Life in Newburgh on Ythan

Nowt and dragons

I enjoyed a dander through the countryside this morning and met up with these delightful ladies and their calves. In the local dialect, known as Doric, cattle are known as Nowt; for example -

"There wis a great hantle o' nowt at the mart the day". (There was a very considerable number of cattle at the market today.)

Extra. Earlier on I had bumped into Cedric, the local dragon. Being aware of today's date he wished all the English folk a very happy St George's Day and asked me to assure them that all is forgiven!
