The boathouse beach

A favourite spot of ours.  Picnics and walks and swims sometimes. 

The slip was blasted before the 1930s.  They used to take a boat to the Treshnish Islands from here. They had sheep and cattle out there.   There was a winch to pull the boat in with.  Now there is no stock at all on the Islands - just rabbits and in the breeding seasons hundreds and thousands of seabirds.   

The boathouse was built out of the side of a bluff of rock.  There is very little of it left now though Matt's sculpture is there
