The boathouse beach
A favourite spot of ours. Picnics and walks and swims sometimes.
The slip was blasted before the 1930s. They used to take a boat to the Treshnish Islands from here. They had sheep and cattle out there. There was a winch to pull the boat in with. Now there is no stock at all on the Islands - just rabbits and in the breeding seasons hundreds and thousands of seabirds.
The boathouse was built out of the side of a bluff of rock. There is very little of it left now though Matt's sculpture is there.
