Alnwick

A lovely old town steeped in history.  Top left is "Bondgate" taken from Bondgate Without and through the arch is BondgateWithin and the town centre.  Lower left is the Tenantry Memorial erected by tenants in gratitude to the 2nd Duke of Northumberland who had reduced their rent by 25% in 1816.  It is surrounded by four resting lions and the standing lion with its tail outstretched on the top is the symbol of the Percy Family.  Top right  is one of the remaining watering sinks at the Victorian railway station that is now one of the largest second hand bookshops in Europe.  The other two pictures are of a tiny selection of the books.  Above them a model railway circuits the station!
