Craddled Grass

I spotted a clump of grass growing in the knot of this old fallen tree trunk caught in glorious light at the end of the day. Although Spring is underway, it's still quite slow coming and grass is about the first thing to turn green. And the old trunk, despite its demise, provides a home for new life.

I like the cast shadows of reeds and tree trunks out of shot which I think expands the view in the mind's eye. The colours are predominantly warm with contrasting areas of cool blue sky reflected in the water. Although my options were limited, I purposely positioned the trunk slanting in from the bottom right leading into the knot.
