WINTER SUN

Mahonia is a genus of about 70 species of evergreen shrubs found in woodlands and rocky areas of the Himalaya, East Asia, Central, North America & my back garden. Its a common garden shrub, grown for its attractive foliage, bright, fragrant flowers, and decorative and edible fruits (not seen a recipe that says' add half a pound of Mahonia',but perhaps Heston has!). The flowers look like yellow lily-of-the-valley and the foliage is dark green and shiny. The common name is Winter Sun, this plant truly lives up to its name with bright yellow flowers blooming in the depths of winter.
Hope its brought a little bit of colour into a somewhat grey day (been dry here in Ilkley but somehow I don't think that will last)
