Todmorden Town Hall

Lancashire to the left - Yorkshire to the right.
That was how it was before 1888 when the whole town of Todmorden was placed within the West Riding of Yorkshire.
This Blip is taken from Water Street and over the wall on the left is Walsden Water which was the county boundary. It flows directly under the Town Hall.
The pediment on the Town Hall acknowledges this fact by representing Lancashire on the left (cotton spinning industry) and on the right Yorkshire (engineering and agriculture).
