Getting the sparkle back

On a jaunt

This heron was having a wander on the grass beside Craiglockhart Pond, much to the annoyance of the blackheaded gulls who mobbed it, but the heron wasn't the least bit bothered. I'd come to check on the bird life and was glad to see the female swan on last year's nest. It's very close to one of the streets by the pond so it was easy to get a good view of her, and she didn't seem to mind the spectators. I was pleased to see a couple of coot chicks in the reeds - my first baby birds of this year! There were also a couple or so of moorhens, various mallards, some lesser blackbacked gulls and a couple of pairs of tufted ducks.
