Poor coordination

Today I spent a few hours at a dissemination meeting for a study done towards a national tourism strategy. Various useful recommendations but the usual list of barriers against moving forward effectively. How often is poor coordination noted as an issue in practically any project report, assessment or review? It might be time to accept poor coordination (to various degrees) is an innate aspect of the human condition. Effective coordination is one of the aspects of work life where humans have developed expectations and standards that very few of them can deliver on.

This primary school is one block away from my apartment and I always feel it looks very grand for such an establishment. The notice to the right hand side indicates this is a location for people to register themselves ahead of this year’s national election. I receive useful email updates from a Mozambique old hand who is reporting on electoral registrations around the country. Even at the best of times, registration stations would suffer from equipment glitches and power outages. The areas smacked by the two cyclones cannot register their citizens, which is going to be messy later in the year. I hope everyone gets a voice one way or another.
