Abram: St John The Evangelist Parish Church: CWGC

One of the neatest churchyards I've ever walked past and then promptly turned around, gone back and walked through after noticing that it's part of the Commonwealth Graveyards network --- very special places, especially to ex-forces wallahs like me.

The graveyard looks as if it's full as I couldn't see any empty plots; some of the gravestones had dates going back to 1805. In the far corner of the church, there were five or six bins, with a blue sign above saying: Recycling Point. A sign of the coming times: Soylent Green, anyone? Such a thought may seem to some as inappropriate but: "Meh," there's ex-squaddies, tars and erks buried here; they'd have been amused. Cookhouse jokes are a staple of uniform life.
