An afternoon spent pregnancy testing and freeze branding the in calf heifers . Stevie was doing the PDs as usual, but he had a new freeze brander with him. This is a way of permanently marking a number on the flank of each beast. A metal number or letter is chilled with dry ice and then applied to the skin for a set time. This low temp kills the pigment and the hair grows back white leaving a number or letter.
Also PD d a batch of cows that we weren’t sure about as had to replace a dud Blonde bull during the beginning of winter. The new lad must have been working though as they are all I calf.
