Turkey Vulture

Early this morning a couple of Turkey Vultures were in a birch tree outside our window. It is not a pretty bird; we see them soaring around often, but not sitting in our trees. My bird book says: "...( they) were long considered to be a type of raptor, like hawks and eagles. However, recent studies have proved them to be closely related to storks."
