Miss Piggy in Maastricht

She's here for a month this travelling Miss Piggy sculpture named "Ode to the pig".

In the papers I found a little explanation about this sculpture and her travels from town to town in our country:  Her name and travels are sponsored by the dutch political party "Animal Party" (Partij voor de Dieren) and meant to awaken people's awareness about the farmers' life-stock and about the impact of the bio-industry on our direct environment, the world, the climate-change etc.
This sculpture should make us aware of the welfare, or lack of it, of the animals living at our farms; Apparently 18 million animals live at farms in the province of Limburg alone and some 7 billion do so in all of EU!

What sponsor and sculptor want to express with this jumping Miss Piggy is that most animals at EU farms lack the space to live life naturally, because they're caged... I do eat a piece of meat once a week, but wasn't aware of these gigantic numbers.
