Miss Holmes

Sherlock: "Mrs. Hudson is not quite prepared for an age in which we women-folk indulge our eccentric longing for the will-o'the-wisp pleasures of independence."
- Miss Holmes (2016)  Christopher m. Walsh

A newish (2016) play by American playwright Christopher m. Walsh, tells a story of mystery and intrigue with more than a dash of feminist comment and moments of considerable hilarity, where the famous detective and Dr Watson, are both women. Originally shown in Chicago in 2016, this week it is very nicely performed by our students here in Istanbul, minimalist set on our theatre stage designed, and the whole play directed by, our talented and ingenious drama teacher. Great job on adopting English accents and exaggerating the stereotyped quirky mannerisms of C19th England, including recognition of 'the restorative powers of a cup of tea';  it was a thoroughly enjoyable way to finish the week.

The photo is from the opening scene where Sherlock's brother Mycroft, takes his sister from the asylum, after which I put my phone away to enjoy the play and not disrupt others with the screen bright antics of the annoying phone wielding fan so often to be seen in any audience nowadays, unfortunately.
