Bridge 127

This is the final bridge on the River Dee Branch of the Shropshire Union Canal before it enters the River Dee. In the background you can just see the top of Bridge 126d which I blipped in September last year. This was another difficult one to photograph.

There has been a lot of development in the old port area of Chester in recent years and it is now an attractive location. In theory you should be able to take your boat from the Shropshire Union Canal into the River Dee but at the moment there is a flood barrier in place which you can just see under the bridge. Sparserunner pointed me in the direction of this article when I blipped bridge 126d so it looks like it was temporarily removed and then put back again.

This concrete bridge was constructed in the 1960s and replaced a small swing bridge.
