Jack in the Green

This is a local May ritual in Bristol, ending on Horfield Common, very near where I live.

The procession takes place on the first Saturday of May to herald the imminent arrival of summer. It being May in Bristol, the weather could be doing just about anything! It was scorching last year, but a cool 12 degrees today.

We spoke to one of the ringleaders afterwards. Take it as you like and don't take it too seriously. Could be pagan, could be hippy, could be folk-dancing. But it's fun to watch!

Blippers within spitting distance of Bristol may be interested to hear of our BlipMeet on June 8th. See the Community page.
