Unexpected gifts

I got the if four oh last year, so didn't intend to make much fuss this time. This is actually my first birthday in my not so new job and I was surprised with a birthday candle and cake. After meaning to pick up some hand cream for an age and losing my scarf, the lovely NellieD and a fellow book clubber also picked up on my wish list. 5 years ago, I didn't know any of them - new friends and new adventures are always there if you're brave and lucky!
