My beloved Oslo: America's Tall Ship

The U.S. Coast Guard's Eagle,  known as "America's Tall Ship," is visiting Oslo for the first time since 1963.

The barque trains hundreds of cadets each summer on the basics of navigation and seamanship. About 40 % are women.  The vessel is 295 foot, and built in 1936. With full sails and fair wind it can hit 17 knops.
It was formerly known as Horst Wessel and operated in Germany as a cadet training ship during World War II. It was  captured by the British in 1945 and later traded to the U.S.
