Gipsy Threads

By GillShaddick

Australian Angel

This sculpture near Sydney's Harbour Bridge was a gift from Switzerland on the occasion of Sydney's 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

It is made of discarded metal artifacts from Australia and Switzerland. For example the Olympic rings are coil springs from an old locomotive. The site was once a rail terminus for those catching the ferry before the Bridge was built.

The sculpture by Luginbuhl welcomes and farewells ships visiting Sydney.
