VE Day

Tonight we had a short, and very soggy, wreath laying ceremony to commemorate V.E. Day (Victory in Europe).
This signified the end of World War 2 in Europe but the war did not cease for another 4 months when Japan capitulated after the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings.
We are a small group, in Gloucester, that turns up for such ceremonies but it means so much. Without V.E. day and all that led up to it, the sacrifices, life changing injuries, the heroism of so many, we would now be speaking German, but I must admit we'd have very smart uniforms!
