What's the story? The third great railway journey.

Normally, I'm on Stockport station at daft o clock in the morning or evening when my sociability levels are at their most limited. I'd spotted this piece of history behind a dirty window during the winter and thought "I wonder where that has come from?" and promptly forgot which platform I'd seen it on. Fast forward a few weeks and I've either rediscovered it or its been restored. I may have to actually bite the bullet and initiate a conversation before a civilised time to find out its provenance. I'd love to know what the other two were. I love the idea of a great railway journey and trundling through the countryside. Just not people outside civilised hours :-)
