Soldier of Orange

In Holland a famous title. Based on the true story of Dutch students at the time of 1940. The main character gets to England and crosses to Holland 27 times, to bring stuff for communication with the resistance. He becomes a special member of staff for our Queen, who resided in London during the war.

The story has been made into a very impressive play/musical in a building that used to be a hangar for planes. The stage is huge and the audience seating revolves around the stage.

The show is very, very impressive. Starting with a pre war group of students who have to decide what to do when war comes upon them. Will you collaborate, stand aside or resist?

Near the end of the show, the war is nearly over, our seating area is moving again to the next scene and suddenly we look outside, out of the hangar. A real and old plane is standing there from which the Queen is stepping down. Down to the soil of that part of Holland that was liberated. Feeling very real.

Ok, I'll stop. You get my meaning. I liked the show...

Update: I just read the musical is going to London late in 2020. I can certainly recommend it.
