Smoked cod liver crostini, Rosette de Lyon, Époisses de Bourgogne, Comté, mixed olives, chili marinated garlic, and cornichons. Wine: Andrew Murray Syrah Alisos Vineyard 2016.

The cod liver was an experiment, and not a successful one—I thought the texture was lovely, but the flavor was appalling, which is a more generous assessment than my husband’s. Everything else was excellent.
