Allium

Out pulling up some weeds this afternoon (the yellow poppy from yesterday is safe) and I noticed that the buds on the alliums are starting to open. The three shots here were taken over two hours and I can see that the bud has opened up ever so slightly between the first and the last. The little flies were on the bud all afternoon so clearly were getting something; each time I approached the top one flew up in the air and landed back again apart from the last time when the sun had gone in, and he decided it was time for home.
