Cafe

We both wanted to stop for a coffee. The idea of sitting in the cold sun, nursing a hot drink and watching the people pass by appealed to us. But, as ever, the reality was that, as soon as we were seated, I was thinking of the next thing that we could do. I gulped down the drink, burning my tongue and waited for her to finish, pushing back my chair as soon as she put her cup down. There’s a lot to be said for living in the moment but I seem to be unable to stop myself living in the moment after this moment.
