How many?

Quiz night 2

Another crown to defend.  This time the venue is the Park Hotel, a pub so close to home that I could tumble down the road in my dressing gown.  And I would still be overdressed.

This quiz is relatively new to us.   On our first night we came, we saw, we conquered and we also took all the choccies from the raffle, making our team rather unpopular with the locals.

The quiz and the atmosphere is an altogether different affair from the day before.   No lawyers, eccentric baronets, or impromptu architects turned to crooners, but a collection of lovable odds and strays which we are getting to know better during the frequent in-built fag breaks. There is also a highly anticipated and incredibly good value mid-quiz banquet, included with the entry fee.

The quiz started well, although we let Miles control of the pen, which is never a good idea.  He is like the Golem with his precious gold, trying to shut us all out and answer the quiz by himself. We navigated well the questions about famous dogs, brands of beer and Coronation Street actresses, but became undone on the “How many?” round.  All the right answers from the round should add up to 1,000,474. Let’s say that there was a heated argument about the number of keys in a piano and the number of legs a prawn uses to walk…. We all ganged up against Miles and disregarded his answer.  He was right. We lost the quiz and we will never hear the end of this….
